Product Review: Rich Piana 5% Nutrition Crea-Ten

Before we begin on this product review, check out the rest of the Rich Piana’s 5% Nutrition line that I reviewed:

So now I am onto their Crea-Ten creatine supplement.

What is Rich Piana’s 5% Nutrition Crea-Ten?

This is a good play on words, Crea-Ten is a supplement that contains 10 types of creatine.

I’ll be the first to admit I haven’t done a lot of scientific research on creatine so I am going to go off of what I do know. What I do know about creatine is that I’m a responder, some people do not respond to certain types, and a lot of people’s stomach can hurt if they take creatine.

So what’s so special about Crea-Ten?

Supplement Facts

Serving Size: 1 Scoop (7.7 Grams)

Servings Per Container: 30

Amount Per Serving

Chromium (as Chromium Nicotinate Chelate) – 120 mcg 100%

Creatine Blend – 5,000 mg

Other Ingredients:

Citric Acid, Natural Flavors, Silicon Dioxide, Sucralose, Acesulfame Potassium, and Red #40.

As you see with the ingredient list, there are ten different type of creatines in the creatine blend. I do not know what most of these are, so I would look them up and research them before you go and buy this supplement.

Flavors

  • Blue Raspberry – Flavor I tried
  • Fruit Punch
  • Lemon Lime
  • Mango Pineapple

Directions

Consume (1) Serving Size scoop mixed with your favorite beverage of choice immediately after working out ONCE A DAY. On off-training days, it can be taken any time of day. To capitalize on the benefits of the Insulin Mimickers and Creatine Accelerators, consume with simple sugars. Crea-TEN can be mixed and used in conjunction with KILL IT pre-workout and/ or ALLDAYOUMAY 5% Nutrition products.

Conclusion

To be honest I know enough about supplements to understand what I’m taking and enough to make an informed decision whether something is worth taking or not. Unfortunately a lot of the creatines and other ingredients included in this supplement to help promote a synergistic effect are unfamiliar to myself.

While I could go dig around and find all of the science reports on all of the ingredients to see how they work together, (which honestly you should if you’re putting it in your body) I chose to take the good old-fashioned “try it and see” approach.

I have been a long time user of creatine monohydrate and I KNOW that works – so at least I have something to base this test off of.

I tried this for 10 days and I felt the effect of creatine within 4 days which is great; generally it does take a week for me to start feeling effects of creatine. I took the regular dose which is 1 scoop (yes this creatine actually comes with a scoop!) and let it do its thing.

After day 5 I did feel pumped all of the time and either the placebo effect was taking place or I really was experiencing better pumps and a good endurance when it came to repping it out.

Like I said earlier, I had the blue raspberry and the taste was not bad; as a matter of fact it was pretty good. It was a little tart and I tried taking creatine the usual way (scoop in mouth and wash down with water) which was really strong like eating a Kool-Aid packet but still not bad. In water it was a tasty little slammer and left a little in the bottom of the shaker but that happens to me with all creatine supplements (which is why I take a scoop and wash it down in my mouth).

Lastly, I didn’t experience any bloating or stomach issues while on Crea-Ten and I didn’t get any bad cramps like I have with kre alkalyn creatine.

Overall I give this product a 7/10.

This would be a 10/10 if the pricing were a little bit lower. You get a 30 serving container for $30.95 over at my friends at I’ll Pump You Up.

The only reason I think this is too expensive is because I’m used to paying ~$20 for a 200 serving container of creatine monohydrate.

Do I like the product? Yes.

Would I use it again? Yes.

Would I recommend it? Maybe. – If you tried creatine mono and didn’t notice any response, trying this may help you respond to creatine since there are many different types in it.

If you try it out, leave a comment below and let me know what you think.

    1. Timothy,

I’d consult your doctor on that. Generally the way Creatine works it doesn’t, but if you’re on a blood pressure pill, blood thinners, etc it definitely needs to be something you ask your doctor.

I’ve never seen issues with it but if you are worried please check with your doctor first.
